Radish & Rye Food Hub: Expanding Quality Food Access with INFRA Everyday

At Radish & Rye Food Hub, good food has always been about more than what’s on the shelf. Since opening in 2015, the store has built a loyal following in midtown Harrisburg, PA by offering local and organic groceries, globally inspired flavors, and fresh-made foods crafted in their on-site kitchen and bakery.

But like many independent retailers, Radish & Rye has also had to navigate a growing challenge facing natural food stores everywhere: how do you keep high-quality food accessible as grocery costs continue to rise?

For co-owner Julia James, INFRA Everyday became an important part of that answer.

Since implementing the program, Radish & Rye has increased Everyday sales by 42% in the last year alone and has seen 50% overall business growth since introducing the program.

“We joined INFRA right around the same time the Everyday program launched, so we saw a double benefit of being able to lower prices storewide thanks to the Supply Agreement and being able to roll out a line of super affordable products at the same time,” Julia shared. “I think it's dramatically helped our price perception, which means folks can pick up ‘special’ items without having to go elsewhere for their staples.”

Over time, that stronger value perception also gave Radish & Rye confidence to expand beyond the required Everyday assortment, bringing in additional CADIA items that filled important gaps in both price and quality.

“We've brought in quite a few additional CADIA products, largely based on gaps in the market and our product sets, where we just couldn't find a product that hit that sweet spot for price and quality,” Julia said. “The CADIA Italian sodas have been an especially big hit!”

This impact has been especially meaningful in the store’s neighborhood.

“We're in an urban low income/low access area, a food desert, and while we're too small to fully fill the community's needs, the staples offered through the Everyday program are huge in our neighborhood,” Julia shared. “It really allows us to serve everyone in the community in a way that has otherwise felt out of reach.”

For Radish & Rye, INFRA Everyday has become more than an EDLP program. It’s helped the store create greater access to affordable organic staples while continuing to deliver the quality, discovery, and community-centered shopping experience their customers value.
