Optimizing the INFRA Everyday Program in Your Store

By Madeleine Ware posted 07-29-2024 09:20 AM

The INFRA Everyday program has been a huge success overall, but how is it working in your store? If certain categories or items aren't performing as well as you'd hoped, let's consider some ways to optimize the program by refining your assortment, using a merchandising strategy, and enhancing your marketing efforts.

Refining Your Assortment

One of the best ways to boost the Everyday program's success is by refining your assortment. Start with a simple Good, Better, Best approach for each set. This means selecting items that clearly stand out from each other in terms of quality and price. For instance, if you're carrying multiple "private label-esque" natural brands like Field Day, Woodstock, and Natural Value alongside CADIA, consider simplifying. By focusing on CADIA as your "Good" option due to its better price point, you can streamline your offerings and encourage customers to choose CADIA. Refer to the Making Room for CADIA Guide for more information.

Using a Merchandising Strategy

Next, integrate your Everyday program into your overall merchandising strategy. Consistency is key. Ensure CADIA products are always placed thoughtfully within each set. If local products are at eye level, position CADIA items directly above or below them. This approach communicates your store's values—supporting local products while offering affordable options. The message to shoppers becomes clear: "This store cares about local, and I can afford to shop here!" Refer to the Everyday Merchandising Guide for more information.

In this merchandising example, price perception influences where CADIA items are placed in the set.

Enhancing Marketing Efforts

Your sets look great, but are you marketing effectively? Our INFRA field staff have visited hundreds of stores and found that those who use price signs for each CADIA item and promote the program see greater sales growth. Remember, we want to make it easy to find those EDLP items with compelling signage and attractive merchandising. If you aren’t using signs, consider using the premade INFRA Everyday price signs found on the MOA. There you can also find our quarterly Everyday flyer which can be used on your website and printed for in-store distribution. Lastly, you’ll also find an assortment of premade posters, shelf talkers and end cap headers to highlight the value of the program and its benefits for the community within your store.

Furthermore, some members have successfully used TV and streaming commercials, newspapers, and local circulars to promote their everyday low-price programs. How are you attracting new customers to check out your low prices? Think about new ways to get the word out and draw in more shoppers. Be sure that what you advertise externally about Everyday matches your shopper’s in-store experience.

Taking Action

What’s one thing you can start doing today to enhance the Everyday program? Set small, manageable goals. Writing down your goals and sharing them with your team increases commitment. Celebrate your progress and achievements along the way. For instance,

  • In the next few months, go through and discontinue the ‘like brands’ in categories where CADIA is merchandised and put them on a disco sale to move them out.

  • Within the next year, focus on a few categories a month and re-merchandise those sets according to a written merchandising strategy to create a more cohesive shopping experience
