Impact Message on Sustainability

It seems that with each passing year, sustainability becomes more of a focus in everyday life. In the past year, we’ve received more requests for INFRA’s sustainability statement or priorities than ever before. I believe that no matter how small or large a company is, it must consider its impact and what actions it can take. Can you be a purpose driven business without sharing your impact? Because INFRA’s focus is on our relationships with members and partners, to create impact, we must be able to effectively communicate our purpose. To socialize our company’s sustainability values, I crafted an impact message to accompany our mission and vision.

This impact statement shares our commitments and what we will focus on in the future. It’s a powerful tool for creating purpose within the company and paints a clear picture for our responsibility to the industry. Formally outlining our commitment to staff, our retail members, and partners creates accountability for both the company and individual employees. This clear, transparent, and honest reflection of INFRA’s practices outlines our environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and influence on the supply chain. This statement reflects and refocuses our purpose within the company and the impact we want to make.

Our Impact Statement

At INFRA we believe that healthy soil is the foundation of our global food system. Healthy soil creates healthy plants that are less vulnerable to pests and disease, holds moisture and prevents erosion, captures and filters stormwater, stores carbon, and produces high yields without the need for harmful chemical inputs. As populations and food production demands grow, keeping our soil healthy and productive is paramount for sustaining plant, animal, and human life.

Our vision is about more than food, it’s about nourishing people in all ways and advocating for access to affordable, high-quality, and culturally significant foods for everyone. We know that diversity of identities, experiences, and ways of thinking result in stronger lives for all our members and the communities we serve. We pledge to continue the long journey of working to address inequality and create meaningful change within ourselves and our realm of influence.

We are committed to working with industry partners who align in values that translate in the supply chain from sourcing to product attributes at shelf. These include Non-GMO Project Verified, regenerative agriculture practices, BIPOC owned, Biodynamic, B Corp Certified, Fair Trade, packaging that is compostable and/or recyclable, and wellness ingredient sourcing and transparency.
